Texas Oncology’s team of hepatobiliary surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists takes an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to treating hepatobiliary cancers and related conditions, including:
Ablation
A minimally invasive technique used by hepatobiliary surgeons to destroy small liver tumors when surgery is not an option.
Minimally invasive and open resection
Surgical removal of liver tumors, either through small incisions or traditional open surgery.
Chemoembolization/Radioembolization
Targeted therapies delivered directly to liver tumors via blood vessels. It is often used when surgery is not an option due to tumor size or patient’s overall health.
Radiation therapy
This treatment option uses high-energy rays to damage or kill cancer cells by preventing them from growing or dividing.
Chemotherapy
Uses medications to kill cancer cells. It can be taken orally as a pill or injected into the vein.
Precision Cancer Medicines
Medicines that look for abnormalities in a patient’s DNA sequence. Once it is identified, a targeted therapy can be designed to attack the specific mutation that is causing the cancer. Whipple procedure
A complex surgery performed by hepatobiliary surgeons to remove pancreatic tumors near the head of the pancreas and, sometimes, nearby organs.
Distal pancreatectomy
